Compact shelving containing some of the Library's collection
The Library must continually renew and expand its collections to provide the highest quality, most current and comprehensive information and resources for learning, teaching and research.
Enhancing and enriching our collections is a continual budgetary challenge; for example, some academic journals can cost more than $35,000 per year.
The generosity of our friends and supporters allows us to buy essential books, journal subscriptions and access to electronic databases and other sources of information.
Recognition opportunities include personalized bookplates and notations in electronic finding aids.
There are many ways to help with acquisitions: contact us to learn more.
The Library's Archival and Special Collections welcomes donations of book collections and primary source materials on particular subjects.
Your gift will become part of a world-class resource of 30,000 rare and specialized books, renowned subject collections such as the L.M. Montgomery Collection, and specialized research archives related to agriculture and rural heritage, the culinary arts, landscape architecture, Scottish history, regional and campus history, and professional theatre in Ontario.
Historians also seek unpublished letters, correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, planning documents, programs, brochures, newsletters, yearbooks, photographs, and other kinds of personal and business records.
Please contact us to discuss how your materials will contribute to our holdings as we cannot accept items that do not fit our needs. We encourage donors to visit us to learn how we manage our collections through constant security; environmental controls such as proper lighting, temperature and humidity; acid-free storage methods; and special compact shelving for rare books.
You can make a gift of materials during your lifetime or in your will. We will appraise your gift to determine the value of your tax receipt. We would be pleased to work with you to offer recognition opportunities that will honour your legacy.
The Library also needs cash gifts to organize, maintain, and care for our collections so that they may be preserved for future generations. Your financial support also helps us acquire rare and important pieces that enhance our collections.
