Quiet Study Areas

Posted: Friday, March 1, 2013

It’s important to remember that some areas in the Library are designated as Quiet Study Areas.

These areas include:

  • All enclosed individual study rooms
  • The basement of the Library
  • The second, third, fifth, and sixth floors of the Library

Although these areas are designated as Quiet Study Areas all year round, during exams it becomes particularly important for all of us to respect the Quiet Study Area policies. Quiet areas are intended for private study and research. Conversations in these areas should be very quiet and brief, and cell phone use is not permitted. (If you must use a cell phone, please do so in one of the stairwells).

Headphones may be used; however noise from headphones must not be audible to others.

Laptop computers may be used in the quiet areas as long as all sound or audio features are turned off.

Thank you for your co-operation and good luck on your exams.

For more details see the Library's Building Use Policy.
