Holds & Recalls

Holds

You place a hold for a physical item (not online items) under the following circumstances:

  • The item is available to be checked out at a library within Primo

Once a hold is placed:

  • Library staff will retrieve the item from the owning-library
  • The item will be shipped to the pickup location you selected
  • Items normally arrive within 3 business days
  • As soon as the item arrives, you'll be notified via email that it is ready to be picked up
  • If the item is not picked up within the time specified in the email you receive, the hold will expire and the item will be shipped back to the owning-library

 

Recalls

You place a recall for a physical item (not online items) if the item is already checked out

Once a recall is placed:

  • The person who has the item receives a recall notice via email
  • The recall notice includes the date by which the recalled item should be returned

    • The recalled item must be returned within 7 days from the date the item was recalled, or the existing due date for the item, whichever comes first
  • Once the item is returned to the owning-library, the item will be shipped to the pickup location you selected, at no charge
  • As soon as the item arrives, you'll be notified via email that it is ready to be picked up
  • If the item is not picked up within the time specified in the email you receive, the recall will expire and the item will be shipped back to the owning-library
