About Me

BA (Western Ontario), MA (Western Ontario), MLIS (Western Ontario)

In 1989, I completed a Master's degree in Political Studies with a focus on critical theory and Friedrich Nietzsche. Having worked for a while in public libraries, I decided that the Library field seemed like a good idea and enrolled in the MLIS program at Western. I worked at the Kitchener Public Library from 1990-1992.

In October 1992 I moved to the University of Guelph, taking on duties in reference as well as the departments of Political Studies and Philosophy. Since then I have moved through a number of projects and positions, setting up the first networked CD-ROM journal indexes, working on the U of G's web-site, helping to establish the Data Resource Centre, and becoming Head of Academic Liaison.

Links of Interest

Currently, they are all here:

Del.icio.us ... Dougin Guelph

I am accumulating bookmarks of interest on this site and adding metadata tags to all of them as I go. This way you can either browse the entire list (but it's getting long), or see only the links that fall under certain subjects. If a link is of particular interest, chack who else has also linked to this same article and browse their lists as well.

What's New?

I have a renewed interest in emerging communication technologies (as well as those that are quite entrenched with our users, but still new to us). As a result, I've been trying out a few new things:

Some of these will be familiar, some less so, but all of them are interesting (to use RSS, you will need an RSS reader or view it in Firefox).

Del.icio.us is a collaborative bookmarking tool with many useful features ... I've been enjoying it, and provide an RSS (really simple syndication) feed from it.
