Services

We provide a range of services to meet the needs of our student population including:

The Access Centre

A computer lab with 7 workstations on height-adjustable tables, plus additional carrels and tables for quiet study.

Quiet Study Space

Private study rooms on the 6th Floor that can be signed out at the Circulation Information desk using your CSD green card. Please Note – These rooms are for individual use only. They are not to be used for group work

Alternate Format Material Ordering

LAS staff will search for and order textbooks in alternate format text (e.g. audiotape, braille, large print, or electronic files).

Reference Help

Students can receive instructionin using the Library catalogue, the journal databases, or other electronic reference tools by appointment or on a drop-in basis.

Adaptive Software and Technology Instruction

Students can receive one-on-one training in the use of adaptive software and equipment by appointment or on a drop-in basis.

Book and Article Retreival from the Library's Stacks

Students who are unable to access the Library's book and journal stacks or use the Library Reserve area can arrange with LAS staff to have material retrieved for them. Please provide us with a list of the books and articles you need and give us 24 hours to retreive your material. Please note that we do not offer this service on weekends and holidays.

DAISY Player Loans

DAISY players are available for short-term or semester loans. Priority is given to people who are using this technology for the first time, don't receive an equipment bursary, or whose players are being repaired. Students are encouraged to purchase their own DAISY players once they have established that it is a useful accommodation for them.

Digital Recorder Loans

The LAS has three Olympus WS-310M digital recorders available to CSD-registered students for 7-day loans.

Lockers

There are a total of nine lockers in our computer lab. Students can apply for a locker with the LAS Coordinator, and need to re-apply at the beginning of each semester. They may also have to share a locker or give it up, if necessary, to accommodate another student with a greater need.
