Faculty & TAs – Referring Students

Text Size: S M L XL

Our staff and Peer Helpers provide individual assistance for undergraduates on a wide range of learning, studying, and self-management issues. We emphasize skill enhancement and, for first-year students, the transition from high school to university-level learning. Students use our services to improve their academic performance, increase their effectiveness and productivity, and enhance their time- and self-management skills.

We provide assistance with:

  • Time and workload planning
  • Managing procrastination and perfectionism
  • Effective learning and study strategies for specific disciplines
  • Exam preparation and exam writing skills, including multiple choice
  • Concentration or motivation issues
  • Academic presentation skills

If you encounter students that could benefit from one-to-one help in these or related areas, please refer them to Learning Services for an individual appointment. Students can email us directly at learning@uoguelph.ca to set up an appointment. All forms of individual assistance are free and confidential.

Stress management is addressed by two other units on campus — the Stress Management and High Performance Clinic and Counselling Services.
