As resources for faculty, sessionals, and TAs, our staff can provide information, analysis, and advice on current research, best practices, and trends in student learning, self-management, and performance issues. For example, we have assisted faculty by providing a learning perspective on assessment strategies and curriculum design.
We have access to a range of resources on students as learners, including demographic and developmental theories as they relate to university-level students, and issues common among high-achieving students, such as perfectionism and procrastination. For those teaching first-year courses, we're familiar with the academic transition from high school to university-level learning.
If you have questions or concerns about the learning or performance of students in your course or program, our staff can conduct an assessment of their particular needs, experiences, or characteristics. We then create a profile of your students as learners to serve as a guide when developing assignments, assessment, or curricula and inform the practice of course instructors or TAs.
