Learning Services staff and peer helpers provide individual assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who would like to plan and use their time more effectively or enhance their academic skills and performance.
If you are a first or second year student, you can book an appointment with a Learning Peer Helper by using the online appointment booking system. If you need additional instructions for booking an appointment, please read how to book a Learning or Writing Appointment.
If you are a 3rd or 4th year, or graduate student, you can book an appointment with a Learning Services staff member by emailing learning@uoguelph.ca. You can usually expect a reply in 1-2 business days.
Consultations are free and confidential.
In individual appointments, we focus on effective strategies and study approaches for dealing with different types of courses. The topics we cover include:
Please note that we do not provide tutoring on course-specific content. If you're interested in hiring a tutor, we first recommend meeting with someone in Learning Services. Sometimes adjusting your study strategies can make a big difference in a course and hiring a tutor is not necessary. If you're sure you'd like to hire a tutor, Tutoring At Guelph maintains a database of students who are interested in tutoring.
