Free Resources on Campus
- Meet with a Learning Peer Helper or staff member, who can help you develop effective strategies for reading, note-taking, and preparing for exams in your program or discipline.
- Visit your professor or TA during office hours. Come prepared with specific questions about the concept or issue you would like to discuss.
- Find out if there's a Help Lab for your course.
- Find out if there are SLG sessions for your course.
- Use Learning Services Web resources on learning and studying.
Finding a Tutor
If you've decided that you want to hire a tutor, keep in mind that tutors are not trained or supervised by the University. It is up to you to determine if the tutor you would like to hire is suitably qualified and experienced. Most tutors charge $10-20 per hour for their services.
- Ask your professor, TA, or department secretary for recommendations.
- Check the Classifieds in the Ontarion and bulletin boards in the appropriate department office or in the UC.
- Place a classified ad in the Ontarion or put up a flyer in the department and/or in the UC.
