" SLGs have helped me greatly. Small learning groups and the pace at which material was covered made an incredible difference in my academic success. I recommend them to all my friends! "
Wouldn't it be great to be a part of a course-specific study group that meets regularly and works well? At the Library and the Learning Commons, we recognize that many students want an opportunity to study with classmates for those particularly challenging courses, but productive study group sessions are difficult to organize and plan. So, the staff and Peer Helpers got together with some academic departments to create the Supported Learning Groups (SLG) Program.
SLGs provide an opportunity for you to meet regularly with your classmates to discuss course concepts, to practise using new vocabulary and skills, and to test yourself before your instructor does.
SLG sessions are led by trained Peer Helpers who have recently taken the course and done very well. They attend lectures with you and they come to sessions with lots of great study material, advice, and insight. SLGs are open to anyone registered in the course and you can come as often as you like. Check out the SLG schedules for your courses and come to a session soon!
