As a University of Guelph undergraduate or graduate student, you are entitled to free, confidential, individual writing consultations. We can help you at any stage of the process. You can bring a draft, or just bring your ideas and questions.

Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Students from second year to graduate studies can make appointments with professional writing consultants. These are 50-minute sessions, limited to three per student per semester.

First-Year Students

Writing Peer Helpers assist first-year students in free individual 50-minute consultations. This service is offered in Fall and Winter semesters. More about Writing Peer Helpers.

Important notes

These are not editing or proofreading services. We will explain your writing strengths and weaknesses and suggest how you can improve your writing, but you are still responsible for making any changes or revisions.

Please bring a printed version of your assignment with you. Peers and consultants are not permitted to review papers on screen.
