Publisher Policies

Text Size: S M L XL

Issue: Journal licensing and pricing policies are prohibitive.

Journal subscription pricing has far outpaced the rate of inflation and far more rapidly than library budget increases can accommodate. An increasingly consolidated marketplace restricts the options available to libraries.

Solution: New publishing models provide sustainable alternatives to the current models.

Alternatives such as open access peer-reviewed journal publications or hybrid models transform the pricing model of publishing by modifying or removing the cost-bearing structure.

At the library:

  • Our Open Journal Initiative follows the open-access model. This initiative facilitates researchers in publishing their research in a timely manner in compliance with policy requirements, while retaining their rights as authors. We will continue to expand the number and variety of journals available for publication.
  • We provide information and support to researchers in determining the model best suited to their needs. See our Learn more section for details.
