Print, Copy, & Scan

Note:
  • After 45 seconds of inactivity at the Printer/Copier machines, copy and scan settings reset automatically

Printing From any Public Computer

All print jobs sent to public computers stay in the queue for 90 minutes and are then deleted. You are not charged unless you print.

  1. Buy a print & copy card ($1.00) on the first floor and add money to it using the posted instructions
  2. To print a job from any library public computer, print as you normally would selecting File then Print
  3. Choose "Campus Black and White" or "Library Colour" from the drop-down menu, click 'print'. Note there are only two options for paper type, letter and legal
  4. When a box appears and asks for a "user name" and "password", choose ANY word as a "userID" that identifies your print jobs. A "password" of your choice (not mandatory) will stop others from printing your print jobs
  5. Go to a Public Printing station. Insert your print card into the reader labeled, "Pay for Printing". Use the closest computer monitor and key in the chosen "user ID ", click 'OK'
  6. Click to highlight & select the print job(s) you would like to print . Enter your "password" if used , click 'OK'
  7. Click the "Print Selected Jobs" button in the bottom right of the screen and wait for your printed document
  8. Remember to take your print card out of the reader
  9. You have 1.5 hours to print saved documents from the library public computers; after 1.5 hours (90 minute), jobs are deleted

Note: You can print from any public computer connected to the DPS (Distributed Printing System). This includes the Library, CBS, CPES, CSHAS, ARTS, OVC, DRC, COLES, and MMLAB computer labs.

Copy

  1. Insert your print & copy card into the reader labeled "Pay for Copying" on the copier
  2. Press the yellow button marked "FC" on the bottom right console three (3) times to clear previous settings
  3. Open the lid of the copier and place your document on the glass surface. To copy multiple pages place the m face - up in the "automatic feed" tray
  4. Press " Start " button
  5. Remember to take your card out of the reader

Scan to USB (free)

  1. Press the "scan" button located in the right row of function buttons to the right of the touch screen
  2. Insert USB into the labeled "USB port" slot in the front left of the copier
  3. Press "USB " on the screen
  4. Change the file name to one that makes sense to you: Press "File Name" , press "clear", type a new file name, press 'OK '
  5. Use the default setting or select the file format you prefer using the drop-down menu (PDF, TIFF, or XPS) , Press 'OK '
  6. Scan the document by placing it on the glass OR placing it face-up in the automatic feed tray; Press "scan" or "start" for each page of the document (up 100 pages)
  7. Press "Job Finish" when scan is done
  8. Scan other documents with new file names by repeating steps 4 to 8
  9. Remove USB when you s ee "USB device can be removed" message in the bottom left of the touch screen. Tip: Check that USB scanning worked by checking your scanned file off your USB using a public computer. If not, then re-scan using the following "Scan to File" directions

Scan to File (free)

  1. Press the "scan" button in the right row of function buttons to the right of the touch screen
  2. Press "File" on the touch screen
  3. Change the file name to one that makes sense to you: Press "File Name", press "clear", type a new file name, press 'OK '
  4. Use the default setting or select the file format using drop-down menu (PDF, TIFF, or XPS), Press 'OK '
  5. Scan the document by placing it on the glass OR placing it face-up in the automatic feed tray; Press "scan" or "start" for each page of the document (up 100 pages)
  6. Press "Job Finish" when scan is done
  7. Scan other documents with new file names by repeating steps 4 to 6
  8. Files may be retrieved at any public computer. Go to Computer -> Shared Files (S:)
