Collection Update

Text Size: S M L XL

Collection Update is published by the University of Guelph Library from time to time. The purpose of this series, begun in 1979, is to make the university community, other university libraries, and the interested public at large more aware of the resources of the Library with particular reference to the notable or unusual works that have been acquired.

Many articles in the issues of Collection Update highlight the Archival and Special Collections section of the McLaughlin Library which houses many fascinating and noteworthy resources. The Archival and Special Collections sections contains 25,000 rare and valuable volumes and more than 250 archival record groups, ranging in date from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries. These resources, which can be used in the Wellington County Room, comprise many books and pamphlets, as well as maps, prints, personal manuscripts, and archival records. There are particular strengths in the area of Canadian theatre, Scottish history, Canadian agricultural history and rural heritage, landscape architecture, and the history of the university campus and the regional communities surrounding Guelph.

Many people have contributed to Collection Update over the years and the Library is grateful for the time and effort they have expended to expand our knowledge of Guelph's holdings.
