The Collections

Our collections span many very different disciplines and people. We provide primary source materials relating to the history of rural development, agriculture, veterinary medicine, apiculture, home management and cuisine, and family life in rural communities.

We house the largest theatre archive collection in Canada, including the late William Hutt Collection, and several renowned literary collections, such as the L.M. Montgomery Collection and the Dan H. Laurence Collection of Shaviana. As well, our culinary collections have grown to almost 5,000 volumes and features the Una Abrahamson Canadiana Cookbook Collection.

The archival collections consist of items ranging from handwritten to typed correspondence, news clippings, scrapbooks, pictures, microfilms, and audio-visual formats. Special collections usually consist of rare books, published works or a mixture of archival and published materials related to a person, institution, or topic.
