Agricultural History
The agricultural history collections date to the beginnings of the Ontario Agricultural College — yesterdays texts and notes have become today's primary sources! The Library tries to acquire historical Canadian published works on agriculture with emphasis upon Ontario rural history. Related materials can be located in the OAC archival histories. Agricultural history normally includes items relating to agriculturalists who were not OAC graduates or whose records postdate their tenure at OAC; farm business papers; and manuscript materials on agriculture, such as farm movements, agricultural cooperatives, diaries and correspondence by rural authors.
The following list of major archival resources is arranged by call number order in the library's catalogue, Trellis. Each collection or fonds has a unique call number that users may refer to if they wish to examine the materials or consult the finding aid for larger holdings. Finding aids are provided with the Trellis catalogue record (Adobe Acrobat is required for reading PDFs). Paper copies of our finding aids are available in our reading room. Users can retrieve individual records by performing a search with the call no. or title or by using keywords provided below.
