The Collections – Archival Resources

Text Size: S M L XL

We house the largest theatre archive collection in Canada and several renowned literary collections, such as the L.M. Montgomery Collection and the Dan H. Laurence Collection of Shaviana. As well, our culinary collections have grown to almost 5,000 volumes and features the Una Abrahamson Canadiana Cookbook Collection.

The archival collections consist of items ranging from handwritten to typed correspondence, news clippings, scrapbooks, pictures, microfilms, and audio-visual formats. Special collections usually consist of rare books, published works or a mixture of archival and published materials related to a person, institution, or topic.

Being part of the Guelph and Wellington County communities is important to us. The collecting of local and regional history materials has been a natural outgrowth of the University's traditional town-and-gown relationship between college and community that is highlighted by annual events documented in our collections.
