Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO)

The Early English Books Online collection is available to registered University of Guelph students, staff and faculty. If you are accessing the EEBO collection from off-campus you can login by using the logo at the top of this page.

EEBO provides digital access to more than 100,000 literary and historical classics from 1475 to 1700. EEBO contains images of works by such authors as Malory, Spenser, Bacon, More, Erasmus, Boyle, Newton, and Galileo. The database also includes musical exercises by Henry Purcell, novels by Aphra Behn, and prayer books, pamphlets, proclamations, almanacs, calendars, and many other primary resources, including cookery related resources.

ECCO is an online collection of English and foreign language books, pamphlets, broadsides and other ephemera published in the U.K. and the Americas between 1701 and 1800. A variety of materials is included-from books and broadsides, Bibles, tract books and sermons to printed ephemera-with works by many well-known and lesser-known authors, all providing a diverse collection of material for the researcher of the eighteenth century. Cookbooks are included!

Do a search for subject keyword: cook* (the asterisk is a truncation feature, you will pick up cook, cooks, cookery, cook book, etc.) and hundreds of cookery volumes can be viewed and searched online.
