Do you have historical culinary items?

The University of Guelph Library's Archival and Special Collections would like to expand its collection of historical cookbooks and other items of culinary interest.

Anyone can donate! What better way to ensure that materials are preserved and passed on so that future scholars can explore how culinary practices shape (and are shaped by) our culture over time.

If you value the culinary collection, but do not have items to add, please consider a cash gift. Funds are always needed to preserve special collections and, where possible, copy them to a digital format to make them available to researchers everywhere and to safeguard the original copies for future generations' use. Sometimes funds are also used for the purchase of important rare books to complement the collection. If you wish, you can honour a person or organization of your choice through a monetary gift - please ask us how.

Before making a commitment, please visit us to see the Culinary Collection as well as our facility. We can show how we preserve, catalog, and "digitize" materials. We would love to tell you more about the fascinating research the Culinary Collection has fueled and why the University of Guelph truly is the perfect place for a collection of this nature and stature. Gifts to the University of Guelph are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
