All Data Collections

Many of our datasets are subject to licensing agreements which stipulate that:

  • Our data may be used by current students, faculty, and staff of the University of Guelph for non-commercial applications, such as teaching and academic research.
  • Any use of these data for commercial applications or contract purposes will violate our licences.
  • If you are interested in our holdings, but are not a member of the University of Guelph community, we may be able to help you contact the appropriate organizations to arrange purchasing of the data for your own use.

Geospatial Data Collections

In addition to the restrictions listed above, some GIS data listed on the Library Web site stipulates that University of Guelph users access the data through a single point within the Data Resource Centre office and sign licence agreements governing the use of data extracted. The publishers of these data include:

Natural Resources Canada

  • NTDB (National Topographic Data Base, 1:50,000 and 1:250,000)
  • CanImage (1:50,000)
  • CanMatrix (1:50,000 and 1:250,000)

All users must sign a NatRes license agreement.

Grand River Conservation Authority

  • Orthoimagery for entire watershed

All users must sign a GRCA license agreement.

Ontario Natural Resources Ontario Flow Assessment Techniques (OFAT)

  • A tool using an Ontario Stream network and DEM to automatically model natural flow regimes.

Users may access the OFAT data in the Data Resource Centre.

Faculty may obtain copies of the application and data after signing a license agreement copied to Ontario Natural Resources OFAT office.
