Canadian Census Geographic Data
Contains files for a variety of levels of census data for the census years 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996
and 2001. Early years contain fewer geographic census files. The files are stored in ArcInfo and MapInfo formats.
The files also contain Census 2001 Reference Maps and Thematic Maps in PDF format. To use this data, abbreviation codes are available for 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006.

Publishes Canadian Geospatial Data. DMTI Digital Elevation Model Data
DMTI publishes Canadian geospatial data. It includes street maps, census data and boundaries, DEM data,

Soils Data for Canada & Ontario
Contains Ontario soil surveys by county and seamless provincial soil coverage. Not
all counties are available — see National Soils Database for other Ontario surveys and
for soil surveys from other provinces.
Bedrock Geology of Ontario (Available in the DRC in CD format)
This CD has seamless coverage of the geological map of Ontario and shows the distribution of bedrock
units underlying Ontario. It illustrates geological rock types, major faults, granulite areas, iron
formations and ike swarms. Legends, explanatory notes, metadata and details of the ArcView and CAD
data sets are provided in Microsoft Word 97 and RTF file formats.

To download geospatial data from off-campus users will first need to install CISCO IPSec VPN Access software available (a free download) from the University of Guelph CCS software distribution Web site.
Quaternary Geology of Ontario (Available in the DRC in CD format)
The data sets illustrate the general distribution of the various types of Quaternary
sediments and the major landforms associated with them. Tills, glaciofluvial,
glaciolacustrine, glaciomarine, fluvial, lacustrine and organic deposits are represented
by 30 distinct geological uniteds illustrating the Quaternary stratigraphy of Ontario. Legends,
explanatory notes, metadata and details of the ArcView and CAD data sets are provided in
Microsoft Word 97 and RTF file formats.
Surficial Geology of Southern Ontario (Available in the DRC in CD format)
This data set is a GIS based geological map that shows the distribution and characteristics
of surficial units across southern Ontario. The map illustrates surficial deposit types,
material types, geological features (e.g. drumlins, eskers), general bedrock types and outcrop
areas. The data used to generate the map was derived from Quaternary maps (mostly at a scale of 1:50,000).

This product is an integrated dataset of ortho-rectified and seamless mosaiced QuickBird Satellite pan-sharperned data combined with CanMap streets.

City of Ottawa Geospatial Data
A compilation of GIS data and free viewer available at the City of Ottawa Web site.
Use eMap to search by address, intersection, street segment or by facility. Interact
with this Web-based software by zooming in and out, by adding additional layers
of information or by printing the current view of the map.
To use eMap you will require the Autodesk MapGuide viewer. You will be alerted if a download is required.
Downloading the viewer is only required the first time you use the map.
Ontario Base Maps
A series of topographical map tiles equivalent to Ontario Base maps in paper format.
Ontario Fundamental Base Data
Contains various GIS coverages. Most are the equivalent of features on topographic maps
in the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Ontario Base Map Series.

The ORN is a province-wide geo-referenced database that features information on the province's municipal

This vector product, whose three data sources are the International Boundary Commission, the

Topographic System (NTS).
Updated Road Network (Download ESRI shape files by province from Geobase
URN is based on the National Topographic Data Base Standards and Specifications. More accurate than
the Road theme in NTDB files, and is continually updated.
