Bedrock Geology of Ontario
This CD has seamless coverage of the geological map of Ontario and shows the distribution of bedrock units underlying Ontario. It illustrates geological rock types, major faults, granulite areas, iron formations and dike swarms. Legends, explanatory notes, metadata and details of the ArcView and CAD data sets are provided in Microsoft Word 97 and RTF file formats.
Quaternary Geology of Ontario
The data sets illustrate the general distribution of the various types of Quaternary sediments and the major landforms associated with them. Tills, glaciofluvial, glaciolacustrine, glaciomarine, fluvial, lacustrine and organic deposits are represented by 30 distinct geological uniteds illustrating the Quaternary stratigraphy of Ontario. Legends, explanatory notes, metadata and details of the ArcView and CAD data sets are provided in Microsoft Word 97 and RTF file formats.
Surficial Geology of Southern Ontario
This data set is a GIS based geological map that shows the distribution and characteristics of surficial units across southern Ontario. The map illustrates surficial deposit types, material types, geological features (e.g. drumlins, eskers), general bedrock types and outcrop areas. The data used to generate the map was derived from Quaternary maps (mostly at a scale of 1:50,000).
