Description

Consists of a series of topographical map tiles equivalent to Ontario Base maps in paper format. The maps provide a high level of detail and accuracy and are the basic input tile for the Ontario Digital Topographic Database. Includes most of Ontario. Southern Ontario is covered at 1:10000; Northern Ontario is covered at 1:20000.

  • Each tile consists of 35 base classes ie, water, roads, contours, buildings etc. 17 of the 35 classes are based on the original OBM layers.
  • OBMs were created and updated between January 01, 1977 and January 01, 2000. They are no longer updated. Use layers from the Ministry of Natural Resources Fundamental Data Set for the most current data.
