Land Information Ontario has collaborated with municipalities and the federal government to develop a geospatial database for Ontario's roads called the Ontario Road Network. The Ontario Road Network is a standard province-wide geo-referenced database that features information on the province's municipal roads, provincial highways, and resource access roads.
The Ontario Road Network contains attributes for more than 190,000 kms of roads with a positional accuracy of 10 metres or less. The attributes describe road characteristics such as street names and road numbers, address information, road classifications, surface type and condition, direction of traffic flow, and speed limits. 158,000 km contain street names and address information.
The Ontario Road Network is to the Government Information Technology Standard (GO-ITS 29) and is considered the authoritative source of roads data for the Ontario Public Service.
