The Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System (SOLRIS) is a landscape-level inventory of natural, rural and urban areas. SOLRIS follows a standardized approach for ecosystem description, inventory and interpretation known as Ecological land Classification (ELC) for southern Ontario.
Note: to download geospatial data from off-campus users need to first install CISCO IPSec VPN Access software available (a free download) from the University of Guelph CCS software distribution Web site.
The extent of the SOLRIS data covers all of Ecoregions 6E and 7E.
* Documentation is included the zipped file for each Version.
Contains spatial data in the form of an ESRI shapefile depicting the extent of built-up areas in the Southern Region as defined and mapped as part of SOLRIS Phase One.
Geographic: GCS NAD1983 (NAD83 UTM Zone17N)
Spheroid: – GRS 1980.
The file contains spatial data depicting the extent of woodlands in the Southern Region as defined and mapped as part of SOLRIS Phase One. The Wooded Area — 2006 Release — uses OBM woodlands data as a base dataset. The base dataset was updated as part of the SOLRIS project using ortho and IRS imagery as well as Color Infrared air photos.
