General Instructions

  1. Download data from CANSIS

Detailed Instructions

The soil survey files are setup as .zip files. To use them, you can use either the built-in Windows unzip utility or a href="http://www.winzip.com/ddchomea.htm">Winzip to first extract the files into a folder. After unzipping the files, using Import71 utility, you will have to decompress the files into the same folder.

  1. Go to CANSIS Web site and scroll down to where it says Query by Geographic Region.
    1. In the drop-down menu, under the heading Geographic Area choose the province for which you wish to view the soil profile, and click the Query button (in this example we are going to view the soil profiles for Ontario).
