Most statistical data which is very detailed in nature or contains time series is governed by licence agreements which restrict access to current faculty, students and staff for non-commercial academic research. A small amount of data may be available to the general public. All detailed paper sources are available to all walk-in users.
The main source of detailed statistical data is available from Tri-University Data Resources, a single Web site for easy access. Use of this data is subject to licence agreements described on the TDR Web site. Access includes locally held data, off-site subscriptions to data, such as the United Nations Common Database, as well as, a section devoted to suggested reputable Web sites offering freely available data.
Under the heading TDR Data is a list of sources for data. See Data Help for details of each section listed. See country statistics pages for detailed summaries of available information.
TDR also provides links to a wide variety of data available freely over the internet by international statistical agencies. The sources have been arranged by major subject area. Within each subject area, links are listed geographically in the following arrangement: Canada, U.S., International. While sites listed are not the only sources of data available, these pages are continually updated to reflect current, reputable, free sources of information.
