International Governmental Organizations

  • Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation. ZZ APE. Online
    APEC was established in 1989. It is the primary regional vehicle for promoting open trade and practical economic cooperation.
  • Association of Southeast Asian Nations. ZZ ASN. Online
    SEAN was established in 1967. Members include Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

    G7/G8 member countries deal with macroeconomic management, international trade, and relations with developing countries.
  • NATO. ZZ NA. Online
    The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation is an alliance of 26 countries from North American and Europe and provides a forum where the members can consult together on security issues and take joint action to address them. For a list of member states please see NATO members.

    The OECD groups 30 member countries in an organisation that provides governments a setting in which to discuss, develop, and perfect economic and social policy.

    The WTO is the international body dealing with the rules of trade between nations. The WTO agreements are the legal ground rules for international commerce and for trade policy.
