Statute law consists of Acts of Parliament and delegated legislation (commonly known as Statutory Instruments) made by ministers under powers given to them by Act. Draft laws take the form of parliamentary bills.

Includes subordinate legislation (legislation not directly enacted by Parliament to enable orders to be promulgated quickly during an emergency) and delegated legislation (regulations made by a Minister under the authority of an Act of Parliament or an Order-in-Council).

Gazettes

The London, Edinburgh, and Belfast Gazettes are the official newspapers of record in the United Kingdom. Several legal notices, including insolvency notices, are required by law to be published in the London, Belfast or Edinburgh Gazette. Switch editions by selecting options under top left Gazette logo.

    Decisions from the Chancery Division, Court of Appeal (Civil), Court of Appeal (Criminal) Family Division, Queen's Bench Division, and Supreme Court Costs Office.
  • Court Service
    Contains a database of selected recent cases from the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
  • House of Lords Judgments
    Available on the Web from 1996 to July 30, 2009 when the judicial role of the House of Lords as highest appeal court ended.
  • Supreme Court 2009-

    From October 1st, 2009, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom assumed jurisdiction on points of law for all civil law cases in the UK and all criminal cases in England and Wales and Northern Ireland.
