African Journals OnLine (AJOL) began in May 1998 as a pilot project managed by INASP — International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications. It aims to promote the awareness and use of African-published peer-reviewed journals in the sciences by providing access to tables of contents (TOCs) on the Internet, backed by a paper document delivery service.
Journals included in AJOL are scholarly in content with peer reviewed articles, and publish a mixture of pure and applied research as well as review papers. Anglophone and Francophone journals are included from 21 African countries. Journals included cover Agricultural sciences and resource management; Arts, culture, language and literature; Health; Science and technology; and Social sciences.
African Journals OnLine(AJOL) is available for searching (with display of citations and abstracts) to all users. AJOL is a subsidized service available for use by current faculty, staff and students of the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.
AJOL coverage varies by title
