The Library's laptop computers are in great demand at all times. Thus, there are some policies which must be strictly adhered to.

  • Only UoG Faculty, staff and students with a central login account may borrow the laptops.
  • The Loan period is two hours and the laptops cannot be booked in advance.
  • In order to borrow the laptops, two pieces of ID are required including a valid and active UoG ID card.
  • The laptops can be renewed in-person if one is available; laptops cannot be renewed online or by telephone.
  • All laptops must be returned 30 minutes prior to the Library closing time.
  • Borrowers are not permitted to take the laptops outside of the McLaughlin Library building or the OVC learning Commons.
  • Borrowers are not permitted to install or copy software on to the Library laptops nor are they allowed to copy software from the laptops.
  • Borrowers are requested to please plug-in the laptop and check the level of battery charge available prior to use without the power cord because the battery may not be charged at time of loan. Charging takes approximately two hours. A fully charged battery lasts approximately 3 hours. We provide an adaptor and power cord to allow for plug-in-use at any study carrel in the building.
  • When rebooted the contents of the laptop disk drive will be cleaned, thus deleting all user files. We are not responsible for loss of, or damage to any files placed or used on the laptop. Please store your files online, on USB flash drive, on CD, or on floppy diskette.

Agreement

The borrower agrees to assume any and all legal liability for the cost of repair or replacement such as theft or damage. Do not leave the laptop unattended at any time.
