The University of Guelph Library is pleased to offer retired University of Guelph staff and faculty the following library privileges:

  • Retirees have access to borrow an unlimited number of books per semester
  • Renewals are unlimited barring any holds or recalls on the item(s)
  • Renewals can be done online

This information can also be found on the library’s borrowing policies page.

Electronic Resources

Retirees may access a wealth of free, full text, scientific and scholarly journal articles online (without logging in).

For example:

  • The Atrium, the University of Guelph institutional repository contains free, full text, quality University of Guelph publications
  • Other scholarly open-access resources

What's Changing?

  • In 2020, retirees will see changes to what they can access from off campus in terms of library online journals. When a date is confirmed we will update this page
  • Retirees will still have full access to online journals from on campus, either by using a public computer in the library, or on their own device from anywhere on campus
  • Faculty members/librarians with emeritus status will retain the same access they’ve always had; retirees with whom colleges have made arrangements with will also retain their access
