Featured Online Collection: Pride 2021 Queer Bodies

Selection of book covers from the Pride 2021 collection

Each June, communities from across the world celebrate Pride month. For Pride 2021, we developed an online book display focused on queer bodies  – bodies that are counter normative and politicized by virtue of existing.

The collection features over 30 books available to the U of G community by and about queer people. Celebrating and highlighting the works of underrecognized queer authors is one way that the library can promote and support the LGBTQ2SIA+ community.

Some key titles to check out include:

  •  Young, Disabled, and LGBT+: Voices, Identities and Intersections, edited by Alex Toft and Anita Franklin. This book combines research and art by and about LGBTQ2SIA+ and disabled people from around the world. Additionally, this book blends together the space of research and empathy to appeal to both scholarly audiences and popular audiences.
  • The Fifth Season by N.K. Jeminson. This is the first book in the Broken Earth series, a high fantasy trilogy. It features Black, trans, bisexual, and disabled characters, who are not tokenized or defined by their trauma. They are fully realized people who experience joy, tragedy, and adventure.
