Collection of manuscript, interviews, correspondence, reviews, research notes, newspaper clippings for publication, "The Tenor of His Time : Edward Johnson of the of Met," by Ruby Mercer.

Heard as a student by Edward Johnson, one of the world's greatest tenors and general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, Ruby Mercer made her debut in 1936 at the Met where she sang for several seasons.

Marriage to Geza Por brought her to Toronto in 1958. Ruby Mercer Por founded "Opera Canada" magazine in 1960 and the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus in 1968. From 1962 to 1984, she  was the hostess of CBC-FM's "Opera Time" and its successor, "Opera in Stereo." She retired from the editorship of "Opera Canada" in 1990.
