Alumni Weekend June 21-23, 2019

The countdown to Alumni Weekend is on

You’ve spent hours on the first floor but by dinner time you’ve only read one sentence out of a thousand (why does this happen every time you study with friends?). Boxed away in a quiet cubicle your fingers clench around your pencil. A view of Johnston from the fourth floor, you run your hands nervously through your hair—only 24 hours until your first exam. The McLaughlin  Library…a place for study, for late nights and coffee breaks, for laughter, and for friendships.

The library holds many of our best and worst memories from our times at university and yet remains a soft spot in our hearts. For generations, the library has been the heart of our school and a place worth revisiting long after graduation.

U of G’s annual alumni weekend is quickly approaching and this year, the McLaughlin Library has some exhibits planned for you! Join us back on campus June 21 to 23, 2019 and come prepared for nostalgia and the return of forgotten memories.

To kick off Alumni Weekend, the library invites you to the official launch of our newest exhibit, Brutalism at Guelph: Concrete in a New Light. The launch begins at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019, and is open to everyone! Can’t make it to the launch? Don’t worry, the exhibit will be on display until the fall and available to check out throughout alumni weekend.

The library will also be open for self-guided tours, where you can visit some old favourite spaces and newly built ones! In addition to visiting the Brutalism at Guelph: Concrete in a New Light exhibit space, we also recommend stopping by To the Nines: Celebrating Alumni & Reunion Weekend 2019 in the first-floor exhibit cases.

The library is also acting as host to the Alumni Lounge. This space will be open all weekend and is a dedicated space to reconnect with other alumni. Enjoy a complimentary drink, a photo booth, and exclusive swag!

Don’t forget to pick up your alumni card before you leave. It provides you with exclusive library resources and more!
