The University of Guelph Library is pleased to announce the implementation of two week loan periods for DVD titles for all University of Guelph students, faculty, and staff.
Beginning on March 20, 2018, all Guelph-ID-holding faculty, staff, and students will enjoy two week loans on regular loan items from the Library’s AV collection, rather than the one-day loan limit which was previously in place. This change will allow us to standardize our loan periods for books and AV titles, and will allow borrowers to more easily view long-format DVD titles such as TV series within a longer time-frame. Given the steady decrease in usage of this collection (and the transition in many courses to online streaming video), we expect that increasing the loan period will increase ease of access of DVDs for borrowers who are still using it, with minimal impact on most of our user community.
The goals of this loan period change is to improve the user experience and implement a simplified approach for borrowing material across the various formats in the Library’s collections.
