BBC Culture recently compiled a list of the 100 greatest international films based on polling of critics. The list highlights films in many languages other than English, including French, Mandarin, Italian, and Japanese. A quarter of the films ranked are from East Asian countries such as Japan, China, and Taiwan.
A number of these films are available to University of Guelph students, staff, and faculty through Kanopy, the video streaming platform for libraries and educational institutions. Members have access to some of the greatest films of the past century, including BBC Culture’s top five international films:
Along with an extensive catalogue of critically-acclaimed world cinema, Kanopy also connects users with independent cinema, documentaries, short films, television series, and more. Users can connect through off-campus login, or create an account on the Kanopy site using their University of Guelph credentials.
