This collection contains published works and textual records (both personal and professional) belonging to Edna Staebler throughout her lengthy culinary career. These items include journals, correspondence, speeches, recipes, clippings, post humous material, and items pertaining to the donation of materials to the University of Guelph.
Edna Staebler (1906-2006) was a Canadian author and award-winning journalist. She was born in Berlin, Ontario (later Kitchener Ontario). Staebler is best known for her cooking series "Food That Really Schmecks" that is based on Mennonite cooking in the Region of Waterloo. Stabeler also wrote articles for Chatelaine, Macleans, Reader's Digest, Star Weekly, and Saturday Night. She received a BA from the University of Toronto and a teacher's certificate from the Ontario College of Education. She has also written non-fiction, Canadian themed works, established an award for creative non-fiction at Wilfrid Laurier University and was awarded membership into the Order of Canada in 1996.
