Abstract:

LEON HENRY (HANK) CLAUS

Hank grew up on a family farm at Ridgeway on the shore of Lake Erie between Fort Erie and Port Colborne in the County of Niagara. Most of the recording recalls College life. There were 3 women in the class – the first women to graduate from OAC, according to Hank.

Hank played football (rugby) and was a champion boxer (he doesn’t say what championship), but he says that he is to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame the following September (1990). (Dick Julian verified with Sue Lawrenson that Hank was inducted on Friday, September 28, 1990 in the “Athlete” category for rugby and boxing). Hank went to the USA following graduation and worked as a County Agent and Supervisor in Upper New York State, east of Lake Ontario and south of the St. Lawrence River.
