We are excited to introduce Omni, a new shared academic search tool for 14 Ontario’s university libraries.
Omni users will experience quick and easy access to a vast collection of diverse, high-quality academic material.
Omni is a project that began in 2014 under the direction of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). The goal was to provide a shared vision for the future of library management systems in Ontario’s academic libraries. U of G along with 13 other Ontario institutions, are participating in the implementation of a shared library system (also known as a library services platform). This means that partnering institutions will share most of their print and electronic resources and that you can search and find them all in one system.
Library users can look forward to broader access to resources, an enhanced user experience, a shared search interface for participating institutions, and the benefit of shared expertise amongst library staff. Along with all the benefits a new library services platform brings for users, library staff will also benefit from more streamlined workflows and a modern product that meets our modern needs.
