Founded in 1986 by writer Beverly Yhap, Cahoots Theatre Project is a Toronto-based, intercultural company with a focus on new writing and professional development. Although its name changed to Cahoots Theatre Company, its mission has remained constant--to empower those whose voices have been silenced and give them a sense of enfranchisement. Cahoots. It has held several successful conferences and workshops such as “Write About Now,” a conference and cabaret for playwrights of diverse cultural backgrounds in 1990. Two very successful recurring initiatives were begun in 1992: “3D: Three Daring New Works by Writers of Diverse Cultures” concentrated on workshopping new plays and the annual “LIFT OFF!” Festival focused specifically on new play development.

This collection consists of audio and video tapes from the Cahoots 1990 workshop “Write About Now!” and performance files for productions of Jesse Glenn Bodyans’ Skull Riders, 1986, and Daniel David Moses’ Big Buck City, 1981.
