The University of Guelph Library provides a rich, wide-ranging collection of materials that supports teaching, learning, and research at U of G. Many of our resources can be found online through the library website, since we invest heavily in online journals, databases, eBooks, and streaming media. We also still actively collect and steward print and physical materials like books, magazines, microform, and legacy media formats.
The Library Collection Policy guides our collection development and management for the general collection. The library also manages and provides access to archival and rare book collections, and the University's institutional and data repositories.
Using the collection is easy. Just search Omni to find resources. Learn how to use Omni with our Getting Started with Omni Guide.

Core Collections
While we collect resources from a variety of disciplines, we also maintain several core collections. These collections highlight some of U of G's research strengths, and complement our Archival & Special Collections, which provide users with materials connected to the University's cultural and historical beginnings. They include:
- Agriculture & Rural Studies
- Canadian Theatre
- Culinary & Nutritional Studies
- L.M. Montgomery
- Landscape Architecture
- Regional History
- Scottish Studies
- Veterinary Medicine
Two of these areas - Scottish Studies and Cookery - have dedicated, co-located shelving on the library's second floor. We've done this intentionally so that they can be browsed together in one place, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of these fields.
Gryph Reads
We also have a leisure reading collection called Gryph Reads. It includes popular fiction and non-fiction titles.

Featured Displays
Each year, the library highlights a selection of featured collections that showcase specific themes, formats, or areas of interest.
