Carousel Players

Established in 1972 by Desmond Davis in St. Catharines, ON, the company is aimed at a young audience between the ages of five to fifteen and encourages innovation and the creation of new works for these school aged children. 

Not only does Carousel Players offer programming during the school year, they also run theatre camps in the summer time. Their productions have toured throughout southern Ontario as well as nationally to Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Vancouver and internationally to England and Japan. It is the recipient of two Dora Awards in the Theatre for Young Audiences category, having been nominated 14 times. Carousel Players received the 2003 Canada Council for the Arts for Theatre for Young Audiences Prize for Patty’s Cake, the Great Grants Award from Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2005, the Lieutenant Governor’s Award For the Arts in 1997, the Innovation in the Arts Award from the City of St. Catharines in 2009 for our Niagara Artists in the Classroom program and the inaugural Arts in Education Award from the City of St. Catharines.
