Welcome to McLaughlin Library! We are a central place on campus for providing academic and research support to the U of G community. In addition to providing access to books and journal articles (and more!), the library is the hub for assistance in developing writing, studying, presentation, research, scholarship, and data skills, and is the home to many workshops and programs. We provide thoughtfully curated services, programming, and resources that support you from day one as an undergraduate student all the way through to graduation.
Ten tips to make the most of the library:
- Omni is the library’s search engine – connecting you to millions of books, journal articles, videos, and other physical and online materials. Curious how Omni works? This Getting Started with Omni guide provides an overview.
- To access online materials, use your central U of G login. If you want to borrow physical materials, your student card is your library card.
- We have bookable and drop-in spaces for individuals and groups. Check out the library map to see what’s on each floor.
- Supported Learning Groups (SLGs) are free group study sessions led by upper-year undergraduate students. SLGs are open to all students enrolled in supported classes. You can attend every week or drop in as needed.
- Do you want to improve your writing, presentation, studying, or English language skills? Do you need help finding research or narrowing your topic? We offer online and in-person appointments on these topics and more!
- Find course materials your instructors have made available to you in Course Reserves (Ares).
- View the library’s workshop calendar to see what’s happening this semester.
- Library Accessibility Services (LAS) is for students registered with Student Accessibility Services (SAS). We provide assistive technology access and instruction, accessible study space, and other services designed to help with reading, writing, note-taking, and studying.
