Penguin Theatre

Today's Hours: 8am - 10pm - All service hours

Penguin Theatre was founded in 1976 in Ottawa by Don Bouzek and Al Cushing. It's mandate was dedicated to "intimacy and innovation"; small productions in small spaces were staged to ensure interaction between the actors and the audeince. While focusing mainly on Canadian works, the company also performed recent international plays, and modern classics, all while exploring the concept of an intimate performance space. In 1980, artistic director Don Bouzek resigned, and the company closed in 1983.

This fonds consists of production files including scripts, reviews, production schedules, production notes, and performance information. It also features administrative files regarding finances, company mandates, operational information, schedules, contracts, and meeting minutes.
