Ms. Fletcher was one of the first 4 women to enlist in the Canadian Womens’ Army Corp (CWAC) on September 1, 1941. She relates, in detail, the problem of enlisting, the early medicals and the training she received, the work that she did in Canada, the transfer to England on the Queen Elizabeth, and some experiences in England. Sadie returned to Ottawa in 1946, and worked as a civil servant.
