The main graphic depicts a photo of an individual working on an open laptop. One of their hands is typing on the keyboard and their other hand is resting on a book. The text on the graphic reads "BRAIN FOOD ONLINE. Thesis and dissertation workshops.” Overlayed on a part of the main graphic is another graphic depicting a brain with its different parts indicated.

As final exams draw near, many students may be seeking guidance with theses, dissertations or major research papers.

The McLaughlin Library’s online Brain Food self-paced workshops delivered via CourseLink encourage participants to develop effective ways to approach their research, writing, and data analysis. Workshop registration and completion can be done at any time.

There are a variety of workshops available:

  • Time Management during the Thesis Process

  • Formulating Your Research Question

  • Working with Data

  • Outlining Your Thesis

  • Advanced Search Strategies for Gathering the Literature

And the list goes on!

Most workshops include pre-recorded lectures, short activities, and access to supplementary resources. Participants can spend up to 15 hours on Brain Food workshops, or less than one hour, depending on their interests. In addition, participants will receive information about setting up appointments for individualized assistance.
