Hey Gryphons! We know you’re using AI tools and we want to hear about how!

The Learning Amid AI Contest is your chance to show how you’re using AI to actually learn (not to skip the learning) and to dig deeper, get unstuck, think more clearly, or try something you couldn’t have done on your own.

We want to celebrate the creative, thoughtful, and sometimes surprising ways students are using these tools. Whether you’re using AI to brainstorm ideas, practice a new language, debug your code, understand a tough concept, or something we haven’t even thought of yet: we want to hear about it.

A note on privacy

This contest is run by the Office of Teaching and Learning and the library — not by your instructors and not connected to any of your courses. We will not share your submission with your instructors or your department unless you tell us we can. Your entry won’t be used to check up on whether AI was “allowed” in a particular class.

We’re genuinely interested in learning from you. No judgment, no gotchas.

What to submit

Show us how you use AI to support your learning. Pick whichever format works best for you:

  • A short video (1–3 minutes): walk us through your process, show your screen, tell us what you did and why it worked (or didn’t!). Phone recordings are totally fine.
  • A written piece (1–2 pages): describe how you used AI in your learning, what you were trying to accomplish, and what the experience was like. Screenshots are welcome.

What makes a strong entry?

We’re not looking for polish: we’re looking for real, thoughtful use. Here’s what the judges will be thinking about:

  • Reflection: Can you explain why you used AI and what it helped you learn (or learn better)
  • Thoughtfulness: We love entries that show critical engagement with AI.
  • Creativity: Unexpected uses, inventive workflows, or approaches that surprised even you? Yes please.
  • Clarity: Can someone who hasn’t seen your process understand what you did and why? Help us follow along.

Prizes

Three winners will each receive a $100 Amazon gift card.

How to enter

  1. Create your video or written piece.
  2. Submit it through the Microsoft Form
  3. Deadline: Wednesday, March 19 at 4 p.m.

AI Day: March 26

A selection of winning entries will be showcased at our AI Day event on March 26; we won’t share your name without asking you first. You’re welcome to attend, but it’s not required — as long as you’ve submitted your entry by the deadline, you’re in the running.
