Choose your own adventure style mini-workshop series

The SPSS Workshop Series is a self-paced, choose your own adventure style mini-workshop series, designed to help folks build their data literacy skills, specifically in SPSS. “Students who are interested in sharpening their statistics and software skills are invited to watch five or more videos from the SPSS video series, complete one analysis on their own device, and answer a short survey in order to receive at badge they can include on their CV or resume,” said Lindsay Plater, research data specialist, McLaughlin Library.

SPSS is used for statistical analysis. Its point-and-click interface makes it easy to use. It can perform a wide range of analysis, including descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and linear regression. U of G students and faculty can download SPSS for free.

Participants can choose to learn about topics including:

  • The basics of using SPSS
  • Data types
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Inferential statistics
  • Chi-square
  • Correlations
  • T-tests
  • ANOVAs
  • Linear regression
  • Non-parametric tests
  • And more

The benefits of the PCDR

“U of G students can display this PCDR showcasing their statistical and software knowledge,” said Plater. “This helps demonstrate to future employers that they have taken initiative outside of a classroom setting to expand their learning.”
