If you’re a member of the U of G community who uses ArcGIS but haven’t logged in since September 2023 and want to retain access, it’s time to log in.
Come mid-January, the library is undergoing an account management process where accounts that are no longer in use will be deleted, alongside all associated maps and data tied to the dormant account.
What qualifies as a dormant account?
- Dormant accounts are those with no login activity since September 2023.
- If you are no longer affiliated with U of G, your account may not be retained.
Want to retain your account? Follow these steps:
- Login to your ArcGIS online account by Monday, January 12, 2026.
- If you have not logged into ArcGIS since September 2023, you may require an extra step, as the login process has changed. If you have content in your account you wish to retain, please contact us to request an account transfer.
Tips for keeping your ArcGIS account in good shape
- ArcGIS is not for data storage or archiving purposes, so we recommend the following:
- Only retain active files within the software.
- Delete all early and test versions of files.
- Back up and save important data, maps, and files outside of ArcGIS Online.
- Need support with research data storage? Consider attending the upcoming Research Lifecycle: M365 Storage Options for Research Collaboration workshop to get ideas on how to store your research data.
Want to transfer your data to another user?
- You may request a data/map transfer if you would like to see your data moved to another U of G user account (e.g., someone on your research team, a professor, etc.), before your account is deleted.
- To request a transfer, submit a Working with Data Request.
